Wolfson's newest DAC delivers excellent audio performance in a small package size
Date:
Wednesday, November 14, 2012
Wolfson Microelectronics plc has today announced the introduction of its latest stereo digital-to-analogue converter (DAC), the WM8533, which provides outstanding audio performance in a small package size for a wide range of consumer electronic applications.
The WM8533 delivers 106dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and features an integral charge pump, software control interface and offers 2Vrms line driver outputs where a 3.3V power supply rail is used. The WM8533 is the ideal solution for a wide range of consumer digital audio applications including set top boxes, digital televisions, DVD players and games consoles.
The WM8533 also features ground-referenced outputs and the use of a DC servo to eliminate the need for line driving coupling capacitors and effectively eliminate pops and clicks at power on. The device also supports all common audio sampling rates between 8kHz and 192kHz.
Andrew Edmondson, Product Line Manager at Wolfson said: “Wolfson is renowned for delivering outstanding audio and the WM8533 is no exception. Its small package size also results in a smaller PCB footprint and the integral charge pump reduces the bill of materials cost for the manufacturer, making the WM8533 the perfect solution for a wide range of consumer electronic applications.”
Availability
The WM8533 is available for sampling now in a WCSP package.
