| Overview |
When correctly applied, treble boost can have a subtle but noticeable effect on audio playback, enhancing the overall listening experience. It brings increased clarity to high-frequency instruments, adding emphasis to the sound without distorting the audio or adding harshness. Typically implemented alongside the SoundStage HD Bass™ module, HD Treble™ can also enhance higher frequency vocals, lifting the vocal element of the soundtrack out of the background and increasing intelligibility.
HD Treble from Sonaptic is designed to add subtle emphasis to the treble frequency range, without overpowering the balance of the sound track. The treble component of the input audio signal is filtered out and run through a simple compression algorithm before being mixed back into the audio stream for playback through speakers or headphones.
With its very low memory and processing footprint, HD Treble can be tailored to individual devices by altering the cut off frequency to avoid unwanted speaker effects.

A typical HD Treble implementation requires only 1.75 MIPs per channel, at 48 kHz. Other implementations may vary from this. Supported sample rates are 22050, 32000, 44100 and 48000 Hz.
