Edinburgh, UK, 25 May 2004 - Wolfson Microelectronics plc (LSE:WLF.L) announces that it has contracted CSMC Technologies Corporation for foundry services, using the 150mm fab facility at Wuxi, China. The qualification of the CSMC-Tech fab was announced in the chairman’s statement at Wolfson’s AGM on the 22nd April 2004.

Commenting, John Urwin, Operations Director of Wolfson Microelectronics, said, “China is a significant growth market for our products, and our partnership with CSMC-Tech underlines our commitment to this market. Before entering into this agreement, we evaluated CSMC-Tech rigorously, and we believe that they are able to meet our high expectations of quality and performance.”

He added, “We have received the first wafers from CSMC-Tech. Tests show that they exceed our performance and high quality expectations thus enabling us to ramp up production immediately across a number of products.” Elvis Deng, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for CSMC-Tech, commented, “We are proud to partner with a very successful fabless semiconductor company like Wolfson Microelectronics.
