Showcasing Wolfson’s ability to enable exciting new user experiences
Las Vegas, CES NV, 7 January 2008 – Wolfson Microelectronics (LSE:WLF.L) is showcasing its AudioPlus™ technology strategy at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas from 7-10 January 2008. This includes key demonstrations of its latest mixed-signal technology developments which represent all four of the Company’s new AudioPlus™ pillars - Pure Sound, Smart Power, Enhanced Soundware and True Mics.
Wolfson’s innovative AudioPlus™ strategy builds upon the company’s core foundation of high performance audio, adding incremental mixed-signal technologies that comprise key elements of the audio signal chain. A strategy that enables exciting new or improved end user experiences and more highly optimised, cost effective solutions, through technology that connects the digital world with the human senses.
As digital circuits continue to shrink, the economics of combining analogue and mixed signal on the same silicon as the pure digital circuit does not always make sense. Wolfson believes the next stage of gains can be made by integrating more of the analogue and mixed-signal together to achieve further bill of material (BOM) and space savings. As well as improving the end user experience, this approach offers more highly optimised, lower cost solutions, with many design and manufacturing synergies.
The four pillars of Wolfson’s AudioPlus™ strategy:
Pure Sound - Today’s trends for multimedia portable devices and broadband wireless technology clearly point to audio as a key market differentiator. Wolfson’s unique audio architecture ensures pure, natural sounding, high performance audio that truly differentiates digital consumer devices in the eyes and ears of the end user.
Smart Power - Portable device designers are under intense pressure to deliver products which incorporate more high performance multimedia experiences into ever smaller forms with longer battery life. Wolfson tackles this challenge head-on with ultra low power consumption and integrated power management solutions that can extend battery life by hours.
Enhanced Soundware - advanced audio algorithms put you in the front row of the concert, and in the middle of the on-screen action and enhance intelligibility through active noise cancellation.
True Mics - Wolfson silicon microphone technology offers a unique combination of high performance and compact form factor to enable crystal clear audio capture every time.
